We restore confident and healthy smiles with implants designed like natural teeth!

At Shandley Kane Dental, we take great pride in working with patients to support the health and beauty of their smiles. Our valued patients also have peace of mind; should we be unable to preserve a badly decayed or severely damaged tooth, our options for tooth replacement look, feel, and function like healthy, natural teeth.

Implant Dentistry

Dental implants are titanium roots, that are replaced with in the jawbone to resemble a tooth or group of teeth. A screw is inserted through the gums and into the jawbone. A porcelain crown is then attached to the screw to become the new tooth or teeth. They can be used to support dental prosthesis including crowns, dentures, and bridges. Today’s treatments are so natural looking, no one will know you had surgery. There’s approximately a 95% success rate for all implants. With modern advances in dentistry, some implants can be restored immediately with life like all porcelain crowns. For more details ask your dentist.

Notably, Drs Steven Shandley, Elizabeth Kane, and Colleen Shandley offer dental implants. Unlike other earlier-generation forms of tooth replacement, implant-supported prosthetics are designed to mimic the structure of natural teeth.

Rebuilding teeth with implants in Hoffman Estates, Illinois

Implants can be used to optimally stabilize one tooth, a few teeth, several teeth, or an entire upper or lower dental arch (as an upper or lower denture). The dental implant itself is designed to function like a tooth root. They do not rely on other teeth for their support. So, implants are considered to be a conservative way to fill gaps in the smile and restore healthy function without altering other healthy teeth.

Additionally, patients get considerable satisfaction from their implant teeth. The implants are secured in the jawbone. This provides the ultimate confidence to the patient – their new teeth are not going anywhere! They don’t have to worry about embarrassing slip-ups or loose dentures that cause painful sores.

Implants also support long-term health. Since the dental implant stimulates the jawbone, the supportive bony tissue remains strong. The destructive process of bone loss is stopped or prevented. Implant-supported dentures continue to fit well. With conventional removable dentures, the bone in the jaw tends to shrink over time. To maintain a proper fit, patients must have their dentures adjusted, relined, or rebased continuously. Many of these maintenance hassles are avoided due to the sustained fit associated with implant-retained crowns, bridges, and dentures.

The process

Treatment is easier than you may think! Generally, the implant is positioned precisely in the jawbone during a single in-office visit. Made from a biocompatible material (such as titanium), the implant is designed to integrate into the surrounding bone naturally and safely. Once the implant is fused to the bone and has healed, we can then restore it with a crown. A few strategically-positioned dental implants may also be applied to support many teeth as part of a dental bridge or denture. All in all, implants are a terrific value.
